Process Photos

Linoleum Floor

Taking inspiration from a Julliard process that used layers of paint applied by hand with a rag, I cut a rag to have strips like a comb, attached it with rubber bands to a roller and applied color directionally: base, shadow, highlight, base. Spatters were flung directionally over tiles to adjust hue, age and add more texture.

Sky Drop

Primed with Rosco White, this drop's treatment was done entirely with an HVLP sprayer-- one of my favorite tools.

Pie Crust Portal

With pink XPS that was cut to shape by the carpentry team, I carved the dimensional shape of these ridges with hot wire tools and sandpaper. They were sealed with cheesecloth, mod podge, and Rosco's foam coat. Color was sprayed with an HVLP gun.

Walls

Thick wallpaper and wainscot gave these walls plenty of interest on their own, but the addition of varied sheen, spatters and air brushed distressing in every corner and intentional seam gave this set the lived in quality seen above. Though it didn't make the show photos, the base of the kitchen door was distressed using a new addition to the toolset: my shoe.

Platform Trim, a tiny detail that I cared a lot about

To compete with the actual metal of the bar stools, I obsessively applied Rub N' Buff and shadowed the edge of this platform.
